Mentoring

 
Purpose:

The committee provides free assistance to community public water supplies that request it through procedures that have been established by the committee.  The main intent is to provide assistance to small water systems.

 

Committee Membership:

The committee is made up of volunteer retirees from the water works field.  All Past Chairs of the Section are invited to be members of this committee.

Functions:

  • Brochures have been developed and distributed to water systems that provide guidance on the program and how to request assistance. 

  • The committee has a mentoring manager who receives requests for assistance in the water works field.

  • The mentoring manager, when contacted, attempts to match a mentor with expertise in the area of assistance requested with the community water supply making the request.

  • Assistance is provided as needed. The committee has developed guidelines to follow when providing mentoring assistance.

  • The mentors sponsor the AWWA Capacity Assistance Self-Assessment Program (CAP) as well as the Noon Networking Program.

  • All work is volunteer, with travel and meal costs provided by the Section.
