MIWARN

Purpose:

As a permanent committee of the Michigan Section of the American Water Works Association, committee members organize water/wastewater agencies to support and promote the Michigan Water/Wastewater Agency Response Network, (MIWARN). The Water/Wastewater Mutual Aid Program was established to provide a method whereby water/wastewater utilities sustaining physical damage from natural or man made disasters could obtain emergency assistance, in the form of personnel, equipment, and materials and other associated services necessary, from other water/wastewater utilities. The objective is to provide rapid, short-term deployment of emergency services to restore the critical operations of the affected water/waster utility. The committee will oversee and implement the formation of a mutual aid agreement, web-site development, regional response sub-committees, training and general maintenance of the mutual aid program. Professional water and wastewater organizations partnering in this program are MIAWWA, MRWA, MWEA, APWA, MRCAP MSP and MDEQ.
