Looking for recognition
for your safety practices?

Consider entering your drinking water utility in the Michigan Section’s Safety Award Competition.

The competition is administered by the Safety Practices Committee and is intended to recognize excellence in water utility safety programs.  The competition involves the review and evaluation of the utilities’ safety record and safety program.  All Michigan Section winners (by size/classification) will be entered in the AWWA National Wendell R. La Due Safety Award competition for possible national recognition.  In addition to distributing awards in each classification, the Safety Practices Committee will also recognize utilities that have shown dedication and progress in providing a safe work place.

Last year, the Michigan Section was home to two utilities that were awarded the National LaDue awards for their utility Class.  They were the City of Clare and the City of Grand Rapids Water System.  Let’s try to bring another National award home this year!  We particularly want to encourage utilities that have not previously entered the competition.

To enter, complete the form found on the Section’s website (2008 LaDue Award Form MI.pdf) and submit to the address below.  The deadline for submission of an application is February 1, 2008.
