Our Vision

MI-AWWA is a vital community of water professionals, leading the advancement of water knowledge and improving the value and quality of water in our lives.

Our Mission

MI-AWWA's mission is to provide education, advocacy, career development, the exchange of knowledge, and opportunities to:
• protect public health, safety and welfare;
• promote the value of water and its impacts on quality of life;
• advocate for the vitality of water in economic development and sustainability of our communities, and
• make a difference in people’s lives.

MI-AWWA membership consists of all members of the American Water Works Association living or working in Michigan, currently about 1,700 strong. Key membership sectors include water works personnel, consultants, regulators, service providers, vendors and manufacturers.

Strategic Plan

The Michigan Section strategic plan was developed and approved in 2013 to help the Section grow. Since then, we have instituted 6 governing councils, maintained many of the committees that have helped make the Section so successful, and created task forces as needed to address emerging issues.  The Strategic Plan was updated in late 2016 and approved by the Board at the January 2017 Board meeting. The next strategic planning process will begin in the latter part of 2019, looking ahead to 2020.

Business Plan

The Michigan Section Business Plan was adopted in 2018 to guide the Section's operations. It is designed to support the Strategic Plan and will be updated as programs, services, and business operations evolve.
