Press release: Drinking water week

As water treatment professionals from across the state gather in Bath Township on May 3 to learn about new requirements for evaluating, maintaining and replacing aging water infrastructure, Michigan and other states are preparing to celebrate Drinking Water Week (May 7–13) and remind consumers that safe, affordable water is a public health and economic necessity that requires investment. Water Utility Energy Challenge

AWWA and partners received grant funds through the Great Lakes Protection Fund to develop and administer the Water Utility Energy Challenge (WUEC) to reduce energy related pollution emissions (focus on mercury) in water distribution systems. Congratulations to the City of Ann Arbor and the Great Lakes Water Authority for being accepted into the Challenge.

Lead and Copper Rule, Corrosion Control

AWWA has resources available to help members address customer concerns and to provide guidance in assessing water quality in order to maintain public health and safety.
