A Growth Mindset for Growing Your Work Force (DEI)

Building staff and organizational capacity through training that expands awareness and consciousness of differences and commonalities will be critical in building your future workforce. This workshop will provide a common language and understanding of key concepts and associated impacts of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Participants will learn how to build an inclusive culture for all and improve team engagement to meet people where they are. The workshop will include a variety of informational sessions, engaging activities and open dialogue.

Dr. Ashley Green serves as the Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) as well as an Assistant Dean for Administration at Michigan State University. While leading various DEI topics across campus and acknowledging the intersectionality of identities, she is specifically tasked with ensuring that the global dimension is integrated into campus DEI efforts and activities. She has a critical role in bringing a global perspective to teaching and learning and supporting the integration of diverse perspectives, cultures and experiences into MSU curriculum and research programs.

 

Dr. Green also serves as the Principal Investigator and Director of the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program, Fulbright Programs, and Peace Corps, where she directs Visiting Scholar programs (inbound and outbound). One of her responsibilities in this role is to teach Visiting Scholars from various countries about the history of DEI in the U.S. and provide strategies to achieve equity, inclusion, cultural competency and global awareness.

 

 

Tina Alonzo is the Executive Vice President for Administration (EVPA) DEI Administrator at Michigan State University (MSU), providing leadership for the strategic planning, development and implementation of the overarching diversity, equity, and inclusion agenda, initiatives, and strategic plan to the EVPA portfolio. She currently serves on several applicable university committees, including the MSU Global DEI Task Force, Multicultural Center Planning Committee, and the Policy Library Advisory Committee. She is the Vice Chair of the Women’s Advisory Committee for Support Staff (WACSS) and is a member of the Michigan Diversity Council Advisory Board; her certifications include Intercultural Development Inventory, Human Resources, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and certificates in DEI and emerging leadership.

 

Previously, Tina served as the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Administrator for MSU Infrastructure Planning and Facilities (IPF) as well as the Diversity and Inclusion Program Coordinator at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and President of the BCBSM Leadership Development Association.

 

In 2021, Tina was a recipient of the DEI Champion award recognized by the National Diversity Council. She also received the 2019 Diversity MBA Top 100 under 50 award, recognizing her as an emerging leader in DEI.
