Management and Supervision

Build the foundation for effective leadership with this comprehensive introduction to management and supervision. This course equips current and emerging leaders with practical skills to confidently lead teams, communicate effectively, and navigate the challenges of today’s workforce.

Through a mix of discussion and real-world application, participants will explore key topics including leadership and management styles, group dynamics, coaching and mentoring, providing meaningful feedback, and fostering a positive organizational culture. Additional focus areas include facilitating productive meetings, managing projects, understanding human resources fundamentals, and leading teams through crisis situations with confidence and accountability.

Instructor Bio: Mike Wagar started working in Water Treatment at the Bay Metropolitan Water Supply System in 2000 and moved to the Bay Area Water Treatment Plant in 2015 when the Bay Metro Plant was decommissioned. Mike has worked almost every position in treatment plants in the last 25 years and is currently the Operations Supervisor of the Bay Area Water Treatment Plant, a 17.4MGD Ultra Filtration Membrane Plant. Mike has an F1, S4 and is a huge supporter of public outreach and education about our Water/Waste Water Treatment Plants and Staff.
