Lead Facilitator: Jaime Fleming and Amy Vail
In the second session we will explore the basics of the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) and the various types of water treatment. We will review the relevant parts of the Safe Drinking Water Act and discuss how the requirements help guide decisions, actions, and planning for drinking water personnel. We will introduce the various types of water treatment from limited treatment (chlorination, contaminant removal, phosphate addition, etc.) to complete treatment (coagulation, sedimentation, filtration, softening, etc.). Participants will get a tour of a complete treatment facility where they can explore the various stages of complete treatment and the laboratory analysis that helps support treatment efforts.
