EPA continues water cybersecurity webinar series

EPA’s Office of Water Emergency Response and Cybersecurity (OWERC) announced the dates for a virtual 2026 National Cyber Drill: “A Day Without SCADA.” The virtual training will include a pre-drill informational session on June 4 and the Virtual National Cyber Drill on July 8. The drill is designed to test the ability of drinking water and wastewater utilities to maintain critical functions during a temporary loss of telecommunications and internet services. Registration is required for both sessions, and continuing education units (CEUs) will be available in most states for the drill.

EPA is hosting a series of water cybersecurity webinars through the month of June. Per EPA’s website, the series includes:

  • Cybersecurity 102 (June 3): This training builds upon EPA’s Cybersecurity 101 Training for Water Systems, offering deeper insights into cybersecurity for those with basic knowledge in the field as it applies to Operational Technology (OT).

  • Cybersecurity 103 (June 10): This training builds upon EPA’s Cybersecurity 102 Training for Water Systems, providing further details on cybersecurity threats facing the water sector.

  • Cybersecurity Refresher (June 17): EPA’s Office of Water Emergency Response and Cybersecurity (OWERC) offers this refresher training to water and wastewater utilities to reinforce their foundational understanding of cybersecurity and how it applies to the water sector.

  • Cybersecurity Procurement Checklist Tool Training (June 25): EPA’s Office of Water Emergency Response and Cybersecurity (OWERC) will demonstrate how to use EPA’s Cybersecurity Procurement Evaluation Checklist for Drinking Water and Wastewater Systems to assess and compare cybersecurity-related vendors.
