Water and Sewer Department Crew Leader

Position Responsibilities: 

  1. Meets with the Water and Sewer Department Supervisor to plan and schedule work activities and discuss any problems.
  2. Insures that work areas are cleaned, barricades removed, and resident's property is restored after work completion.
  3. May direct and participate in maintenance activities, utilizing extensive personal experience, to assure that repairs are completed according to schedule.
  4. Maintains records of all systems such as valves ,hydrants, manholes, leads, etc.; maintains maintenance logs. Prepares daily and monthly work reports.
  5. Assists Township citizens and contractors with problems related to water and sewer.
  6. Maintains records of daily activities, listing repairs made ,parts and equipment used ,and amount of time spent on the job.
  7. May operate a backhoe or other heavy equipment to haul materials, equipment and personnel in connection with water and sewer projects. Assists in care and maintenance of vehicles, noting repairs needed or completed. Performs other carpentry, building equipment and grounds maintenance activities.
  8. Performs various other related duties as assigned.


Position Requirements:

  1. Possession of a valid Michigan vehicle drivers license
  2. Michigan Distribution License S-2 or higher
  3. A minimum of 3 years or related progressively more responsible system operation, construction and maintenance, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to assume day to day supervision of the Water and Sewer Department system in the absence of the Water and Sewer supervisor and possess necessary skill and ability to provide supervision of the department, its personnel and records, management of day to day expenditures , and ability to communicate and interface with both the public and Township Officials as to the responsibilities of the Water and Sewer Department.
