SCADA Network Administrator

Position Responsibilities: 

Evaluate, install, test, support, maintain and improve the Process Control Systems (PCS) in the water and water reclamation plants, landfill, and other city facilities. This includes software management and configuration, programmable logic controller (PLC) programming, network administration, database management and hardware management. Develop priorities for incorporating processes into control systems. Provide training, consultation and direction to staff on the use and application of installed control systems.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Five years of experience with PLC programming, supervisory control & data acquisition (SCADA) system development and database management.
  • Any combination of education, training and experience determined by the City to provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities equivalent to those attained through requirements #1 and #2 above.
  • Competency in all platforms of Allen Bradley PLCs and programming methods, Microsoft Operating Systems, HMI applications software, ethernet networks and communications components, smart building interface systems (boiler/HVAC), radio system communications, relay logic, ladder logic, PID control, instrumentation, computer networking, server and workstation administration
  • Strong project management skills, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and evaluating capital improvement projects.
  • Understanding of Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk human machine interface (HMI) applications software
  • Basic knowledge of Visual Basic, graphic design, and scripting languages or tools
  • Understanding of database management, LANs and design techniques
