- Regional Water Seminars (45 minutes, in person, Spring & Fall): Hands-on distribution knowledge in spring, treatment knowledge in fall; delivered where Michigan's water community already gathers.
- Water Solutions Webinar Series(60 minutes, virtual, monthly): Present live from your desk. No travel; just your expertise, reaching water professionals across the entire state.
- Young Professionals Summit (1 day, in person, Lansing): Built by young professionals, for young professionals. Share a topic you're genuinely passionate about with peers at your stage of career.
Call for Abstracts — Spring & Fall · April & October 2027
MI-AWWA Regional Water Seminars are offered twice each year, in the spring and again in the fall, with multiple regional locations available each season. Each series has a distinct focus and one shared goal: give Michigan's drinking water community timely, useful education from people doing the work. If you have hands-on experience or hard-won lessons to share, we want to hear from you.
Who should submit
Utility staff, engineers, consultants, regulators, researchers; anyone with hands-on experience or hard-won lessons in distribution or treatment, are welcome to submit.
First-time presenter? We're glad to help you prepare.
What we're looking for
- Spring Seminar (April 13, 2027: Marshall, MI & April 14, 2027: Bay City, MI) — focuses on water distribution systems: operations, maintenance, infrastructure, asset management, regulatory compliance, technology, and field practices.
- Fall Seminar (October 13, 2027: Oakland County] & October 14, 2027: West Michigan) — focuses on water treatment: treatment processes, water quality, laboratory operations, emerging contaminants, regulatory compliance, treatment technologies, and plant operations.
What to include
Sessions are 45 minutes, with time for audience questions. Submit a title, abstract of 150–300 words, your name, organization, and contact info. Please indicate which seminar season fits best; Spring, Fall, or “either,” and note any preferred regional location if applicable. We'll help place selected presentations in the session and location where they fit best. Strong abstracts clearly state the topic, the practical takeaway for attendees, and how it applies to distribution or treatment work in the field.

Call for Abstracts— Monthly · 2027 · Live & Virtual
Water Solutions is our monthly virtual series bringing timely, practical education to drinking water professionals across Michigan; no travel required, for you or your audience. Webinars occur on the third Thursday of every month, except for February and September

Who should submit
MI-AWWA members and other water professionals, operators, engineers, regulators, researchers, or subject-matter experts, are welcome to submit. Members get priority, but all qualified voices are considered. First-time presenter? We're glad to help you prepare.
What we're looking for
- Treatment & distribution operations — process optimization, plant operations, and distribution system management.
- Water quality & regulatory compliance — PFAS and emerging contaminants, lead service lines, and regulatory updates.
- Asset management & technology — asset management planning, cybersecurity, and infrastructure resilience.
- Utility leadership & communication — leadership development, public communication, and workforce strategy.

What to include
Sessions run 60 minutes, live and recorded, hosted and moderated by MI-AWWA staff, with time for audience Q&A. Submit a title, abstract of up to 300 words, 2–3 learning objectives, your name, organization, and brief bio. Strong abstracts clearly state what attendees will be able to do differently after the session, and why it matters to Michigan's water workforce right now.

MI-AWWA Annual Conference & Exhibits (MI-ACE)
The MI-AWWA Annual Conference & Exhibits is Michigan's premier drinking water conference, bringing together professionals from across the state for technical education, leadership development, networking, and industry collaboration.
Each year, the conference features educational sessions presented by professionals who are solving today's challenges, sharing innovative approaches, and helping advance Michigan's drinking water community.

The Call for Presentations for the 2026 MI-AWWA Annual Conference & Exhibits is currently closed.
Presentation submissions typically open each January. Additional information, including topic areas, submission guidelines, important dates, and the online abstract form, will be posted here as they become available during the winter.

Operator Days 2027 – Call for Abstracts
Abstracts are being sought for the technical program of the 2027 Operator Days. Operator Days is the classroom training component of Joint Expo and brings together over 1,100 water and wastewater utility professionals each year, including both field staff and managerial leaders.
