Leading the Work of MI-AWWA
Councils provide leadership, coordination, and strategic direction for the committees and initiatives that support MI-AWWA's mission.
Made up of dedicated volunteer leaders, each Council helps identify priorities, coordinate committee activities, recommend new initiatives, and ensure the work of the Section aligns with MI-AWWA's Strategic and Business Plans.
Serving on a Council is an opportunity to collaborate with fellow leaders, support volunteers, and help shape the future of Michigan's drinking water community.
Councils provide leadership and coordination for the committees within their area of responsibility. While committees focus on planning programs, events, and initiatives, Councils look at the broader picture—helping establish priorities, supporting committee leaders, encouraging collaboration, and ensuring efforts align with MI-AWWA's Strategic and Business Plans.
Council members work closely with committee chairs, volunteer leaders, staff, and the Board of Trustees to help guide the Section's work and support its long-term success.
Each Council supports a key area of MI-AWWA's work and provides leadership and guidance to the committees within its area of responsibility.

Education & Training Council
| The purpose of this council is to oversee, align, and coordinate all education functions or events. | See the Education & Training Council |
Government Affairs & Legislation Council
| The purpose of this council is (to focus on) advocacy activity and policy position, to be aware of and proactively influence pending legislation and/or administrative rules or regulations which would affect the waterworks industry, and to utilize AWWA resources in Washington, D.C. and contacts in other Sections. |
Member ENGAGEMENT & COMMUNICATION Council
