What Your Instruction Can Cover

Our curriculum is organized around five competency tiers, and instructors can teach at any level. Here’s how those tiers map to real teaching opportunities:

Competency Tier	Teaching Opportunities
Tier 1 — Personal Effectiveness	Professionalism, adaptability, dependability, and lifelong learning. Especially valuable for apprenticeship and workforce pipeline programs.
Tier 2 — Academic Competencies	Math, science, communication, and digital literacy. Ideal for pre-employment and community college partnership courses.
Tier 3 — Workplace Competencies	Teamwork, planning, problem solving, and working with technology. Rich territory for supervisor and leadership development.
Tier 4 — Industry-Wide Competencies	Water sector principles, quality control, environmental law, and safety. The “water sector 101” curriculum relevant to any new hire.
Tier 5 — Industry-Sector Competencies	Treatment operations, field infrastructure, public health, and safety & security. Home to licensed operator exam prep and advanced technical training.
