AWWA launches “Keep Funds Flowing” to safeguard water infrastructure investment
AWWA launched the “Keep Funds Flowing” initiative to highlight the critical role of federal funding in maintaining and upgrading the nation’s water infrastructure. This campaign underscores the urgent need for continued federal investment in water systems, especially as proposed budget cuts threaten to reduce State Revolving Fund (SRF) and Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA) loans.
Through real-world success stories—like the Security Sanitation District in Colorado Springs, which leveraged SRF loans to complete a $38 million overhaul of its wastewater treatment plant—AWWA is demonstrating the efficiency and transformative impact of these funds. The initiative aims to educate policymakers, utilities, and the public on how SRFs and WIFIA enable communities to meet regulatory standards, protect public health, and ensure environmental sustainability.
If your utility has benefited from federal infrastructure funding and you would like to help AWWA tell the story about the importance of these programs, please complete our quick survey. Your responses will help us share real-world case studies to congressional offices and other stakeholders as they evaluate the need for additional infrastructure funds.
